Hello and welcome to the Daimler Green Community Recreation Trusts web site. When Kuldeep, Chair of the Board of Directors asked me to become Patron for the Trust I happily accepted. It will be an honour to be part of the team who are re-establishing recreational facilities that Jaguar / Daimler once provided for the residents of the Radford area and that will now be available for the residents of the new Daimler Green development.
Members of my family have been employed on the Jaguar / Daimler site for close to 100 years and so it has a very special place in my heart. For this reason, it will be great to be able to support the Trust in its present and future endeavours. There are also many current and past employees of the current Jaguar Land Rover business who still have very fond memories of working on this site - not forgetting the great products that were designed and developed there. It is our intention that some of those great products will be depicted on a mural, designed by a team lead by Giles Taylor, Senior Design Manager for Jaguar, on the wall overlooking the children's play area.
The Trust is off to a great start securing partnerships with local organisations/companies, Coventry & Warwickshire YMCA & Kings Automotive to name just two - with more in the pipeline. This site's web pages will give you details of the facilities that the Trust will provide to the community. As you will see they are many and varied and I do hope you will take the opportunity to use them and support the work of the Trust, a locally based Charity, in providing great facilities and opportunities for the benefit of all.

The Daimler Green Community Recreation Trust was delighted with the news that the building of a community hall plus outdoor sports and play facilities has commenced. The Trust, that has been set up to manage and develop the facilities, can now begin work with the local community to develop a wide range of activities and opportunities. Commenting on the news the chair of the Trust, Kuldeep Dhami said,
"This is fantastic news. Our grateful thanks to everyone that has been involved with the project; it has taken a long time to reach this position but I am confident that the facilities will be real asset for all to enjoy. The sports field is already being well used by the community and in between formal usage it's great to see it being used regularly by local residents & children"
"I believe this is the first time that a section 106 agreement of this scale and purpose has been used anywhere in the country with an investment of well over £ 1 million taking place."
"In my dual role as Chair of Daimler Green Residents Association (DGRA) we have over years kept the Daimler Green residents informed of progress via the monthly DGRA newsletter and meetings. A priority now will be to spread the good news over a larger area leading to a "try it out" / open day being planned for later this year"
The Trust will develop a sports field in the heart of the new housing estate - Daimler Green. Senior & Junior football pitches are already in use and there is also a cricket square suitable for junior cricket. Alongside the sports field there is to be a Community Centre building comprising of: a hall suitable for activities such as badminton, dancing etc a function room with a small bar/kitchen, office, 4 changing rooms, referees/medical room and toilets. Opposite the Centre will be a flood lit multi-use games area, suitable for tennis, netball, basketball and 5 side football. Adjacent to the centre will be a young children's play area that will be developed after consultations with the local community and Coventry City Council.
